Power Cutter
With its idea for a new cutting technology, an international power tool corporation intended to set the benchmark within the one-handed power cutter category.
Aim:
The ergonomic, extremely robust and powerful handheld device should offer multifunctional use for all topiary and trimming tasks in the home garden.
Our task:
The development of a prototype device with lithium ion battery technology, sufficient cutting performance to cope with materials of up to 8mm in diameter and an average usage time of up to 60 minutes between charges.
Procedure:
In order to achieve this high cutting performance and usage time, a simulation model was created, with which it was possible to optimize the overall efficiency of the device from the motor to the cutting geometry. Characteristic load spectra were determined at laboratory test stations from the individual applications and types of material to be cut, and through use of video evaluations.
