IT Security Risk Analysis
For the purposes of setting up an IT security infrastructure, the threats and risks were to be analyzed and measures planned to deal with them. In its role as the national weather service, MeteoSchweiz carries out meteorological and climatological work which benefits the population, the economy, and public institutions. The customer wished, for the purposes of setting up an IT security infrastructure, to analyze the threats and risks it faces and to plan measures to deal with them.
On the basis of the basic IT security manual (IT Grundschutzhandbuch) issued by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and the Helbling IT Security Toolbox, the following tasks were carried out:
- Gathering the information relevant for security and ascertaining the security requirements of the IT systems
- Analyzing applications and IT areas in terms of confidentiality, integrity, and availability
- Drawing up a risk portfolio (including a basic security check)
- Compiling a catalog of measures
- Processing and presenting the results
