Torque Measurement Module for Medical Applications
Helbling Technik developed a medical torque measurement module for determining bone quality during an operation for an international research institute.
Aims:
- Determining bone quality during an operation in the spinal region
- Development of a battery-operated, autoclave-compatible strength measurement module with electronic measurement data storage
Procedure:
- Requirement and process analysis to define the working range of the sensor element
- Energy management analysis, since the customer wanted neither an external power supply nor battery replacement
- Evaluation of a suitable strength measurement module
- Realization of the measurement technology, electronics and firmware
Result:
The first devices have been tried out successfully in various clinical studies.
