Development of an Injection Molding Machine: Prototype and Series
Helbling Technik supported Netstal-Maschinen AG in the streamlining of its product range.
Aim:
The company was planning a strategic streamlining of its product range of machines for manufacturing large plastic molds. Machine models with a one-piece column already existed for smaller toggle forces. Based on the existing machine concepts, a complete, two-part injection molding machine was to be developed, designed and detailed in CAD for the largest series within a very tight and fixed time schedule (trade fair).
Procedure:
Helbling Technik supported the production, assembly, and startup operation of the prototype and supervised its subsequent optimization with regard to series production and manufacturing costs:
- Reviewing and streamlining requirements on the basis of the existing market analysis and technical specifications
- Adopting the existing solution concepts with structured optimization of functionality, design, and manufacturing costs
- 1st project phase: 30 weeks, 77 man-months of work
- 2nd project phase: 33 weeks, 55 man-months of work
Customer: Netstal Maschinen AG, Näfels, Switzerland
