Analysis and Optimization of Energy Consumption for Household Appliances

Helbling Technik is skilled in the development of electrical and electronic solutions that offer high efficiency and low power wastage.

Strict guidelines (for example EuP 2013) set the constraints for future product development. Various norms governing energy consumption in the production, use, and disposal of an appliance have been passed in recent years. Since 2010, for example, appliances have not been allowed to consume more than 1 W in standby mode and from 2013 this will even be reduced to 0.5 W. Knowledge of the relevant legal requirements and norms as well as the scope of the processes and technologies needed to comply with them is thus essential to the successful development of appliances. Compliance with legal norms forms the basis for this. Furthermore, client targets are increasingly oriented towards 'best of class'.

Our task:
Helbling Technik has developed a patented power supply for a new family of household appliances that allows the standby consumption to be set in line with actual requirements.

Procedure:

  • Energy consumption during the appliance's total operation time assessed
  • Standby modes defined
  • Various energy-saving technologies (SMPS, inductive, capacitative) evaluated
  • Results implemented through simulations and test constructions
  • Solution patented by client
